Book review: Finding Audrey - Sophie Kinsella

Welcome back!

I snooped through my bookshelf and made quite a long list of books that I want to review for you. So for now I guess my main topics for the blog will be Bujo and books.

Finding Audrey book

To the book: It is called "Finding Audrey" and was written by Sophie Kinsella, the famous author of the Shopaholic-series. It is her first youth book and it was actually the first English book I read. For you to get an idea of the content, here's the blurb:

" 'I find eye contact hard,' I admit.
'OK.' He digests this for a moment. 'Can you do anything contact? Do you email?'
'No.' I swallow down a whince. 'I don't do email at the moment.'
'But you write notes.'
'Yes. I write notes.'
Audrey can't leave the house. She can't even take off
her dark glasses inside the house.
Then her brother's friend Linus stumbles in to her life. With his friendly, orange-slice smile, and his funny notes, he starts to entice Audrey out again - well, Starbucks is a start. And with Linus at her side, Audrey feels like she can do things she'd thought were too scary.
Suddenly, finding her way back to the real world seems achievable. "

My opinion: Well, even though I do find the blurb a bit of a spoiler I really enjoyed the book. I was thinking about buying it for quite a while and then someone gave it to me. I'm surprised how the author accomplishes to make the reader identify with the peculiar situation the main character is in. I also liked that she found a humorous way to write about this rather serious topic.

I can highly recommend it to anyone that is an English beginner because it is so easy to read. And I can assure that you will not want to stop reading. In the meantime I have read another book of Kinsella and what really differs her books from others is that she seems to like writing about funny, slightly clumsy women and that makes her books and her writing style likeable in my opinion. If you have read a Kinsella book already, don't hesitate to read this one just because it is a youth book, it is just as good as any other of her work.

I hope I could give you a good overview of the book and maybe some of you decide to read it. If you do so or if you have already read it, don't hesitate to comment about your opinion on the book!

Until very soon!
