Bullet Journal Setup

Hello everyone!
I started bullet journaling about a year ago and I have learned a lot with it. For anyone who doesn't know what bullet journaling is: it is a system created by Ryder Carroll in which you create your own planner. Since you do it yourself, you can combine it with a lot of other things such a notebook, a health keeping diary, etc.
If you want to know more about the original system, you can see this video made by Carroll himself or buy his amazing book (which I started reading a while ago too).  So just to clear things up: no I didn't invent the method myself and I am not using it in the original way (even though I am currently trying to find out what works best for me).

I think the first thing that comes to mind is: why do a planner if you can buy one and spare the time creating it? Well that is a good question. For me personally it was a great way to explore my creativity and get a lot better at drawing. But the bullet journal (bujo) also allows the customisation so that I can incorporate my own needs and that is the biggest pro on the system for me. You definetely do not have to draw or bring any aesthetic into it if you don't want to. But if you see Carrols video or read his book you will understand it better than if I try to explain it to you (so let's just leave it at that).

Anyways in this post I wanted to show you my current bullet journal setup. This is my second bujo and the first spreads are usually to get an overview of the coming months or some general collections/spreads.
I decided to keep the design relatively simple since my monthly setups are a lot more detailed and colourful. I will try to explain you what I use every one of them for and maybe you can get inspired and recreate anything of it. If you do so and share it on social media please go ahead and tag me so I can see your amazing work!

A year at a glance and birthdays
Spread 1: year at a glance and birthdays
Well I think this is kind of self explanatory. First I got my "year at a glance" which is really helpful when I do my monthly calendars because I don't need my phone to look up the dates. And right beside it is an overview of all the important birthdays.

Future log
Spread 2: future log
The next one is my future log. In this spread I can write down appointments and events that are in the future. That is necessary because I do my monthly setup only right before the month starts. So to prevent forgetting any event in the future I can drop it down here and than copy it into my monthly calendar later. By creating just right before the month starts I am able to change things spontaneously if something didn't work out the previous month.
Unfortunately I did a full year on this one (which was not necessary since I started this bujo only in May) and that way I don't have as much space to write down. So this is something I will definitely change in my next bujo.

Tracker and savings list
Spread 3: tracker, wishlist and savings log
On the left page you can see a tracker that can be basically used for any kind of information where you would want to have a yearly overview. This could be perfect for headaches or migraines since you can track when it started and ended. Or you could use it to track the days of your period. Another idea is to track the days you worked and how many hours by having a colour code for the different amount of hours.
I decided to do it as a Moon theme because I liked the look of it (also of course you could track the moon phases in it if that's something you're interested in).

On the other page I did a wishlist which I separated in things I actually need from things I just want to have (I am trying to not buy as much and therefore this is a good help to focus on that). Beneath it I have a savings log for anything that is a bit more expensive and needs saving (travels for example).

Reading log and quote
Spread 4: reading log and quote
Next there is a reading log for me to track the progress of the books that I am currently reading. I will (only so that you know) post a few book reviews on the blog for anyone that is interested in reading too.
On the other page I just did a quote to start fresh with this bujo and I gotta say that I am quite pleased with how this one turned out.

Recommendations and playlist
Spread 5: recommendations and playlist of the year
And lastly there is a recommendations spread so I won't forget all the books, songs, movies, etc. someone told me to check out.
The right page is kind of a memories page. Every month I choose a song that inspired me or that I just heard a lot and write it down. I also add a picture of the cover. That way I will have a playlist of all the songs that meant something for me that year (plus I love the aethetic of it).

So that' a wrap for my bujo setup I guess. I would love to know what you think of it and if you use any of these spreads yourself.

Until next time!

Izzy
