Movie review: Misbehaviour
Good morning! Good afternoon! Good night!
The movie is about the Miss World contest 1970 in London. Keira Knightley plays one of the main character, a mother and student who participates in the feminist group also known as 'Women's liberation movement'. These women fought against the role and portrayal of women in the sixties and seventies. With the upcoming beauty competition they start to plan a heckling. The movies not only portrays the story of the movement but also of the contestants and is based on a true story.
At the end of September I went to the premiere of the movie 'Misbehaviour'. I don't know whether in your country you are able to go to the cinema, but if you can't maybe you can just wait until this movie hits any streaming platform. Fortunately in my area we are able to go and on that last day of September I had an entire cinema just for myself (it was a rather weird but cool experience though).

For my review I will have to make some minor spoilers, so if you don't want to read them, just let me tell you that I highly recommend this movie because although it is a rather superficial topic, the director Philippa Lowthorpe managed to give it depth, humour and tension. The movie inspired me to get more involved in feminist/equality topics.
So let's take a step back, alright? Of course there is some criticism on my behalf. The 1970 Miss World contest was an extraordinary event for 2 reasons: the heckling of the movement had such a great impact on the world and especially in England and it marked the beginning of feminism there.
But it also was the first time, that a woman of colour won a Miss World competition. Nowadays beauty contests don't have a high importance in society and most people don't watch them anymore. At that time however it was something that was seen and loved all over the world and therefore it was major. The movie however doesn't really cover that aspect a lot. There are a few scenes in the end where they say that it will change a lot. But at the end of the day the main aspect that the director chose to focus on was the movement. I can howeever understand that it would have taken a lot more time if they had covered that aspect too.
In conclusion I can say that I found this movie very inspiring and if you can get your hands on it, you should watch it.
I hope you have enjoyed this new type of review and if you want me to write more about movies or series let me know.
