September Setup

Hellou folks!

I took a break to create some new content for you. But I was also in a hurry because I was creating a whole bujo for my brother as a present (and I had to do it in less than 3 weeks so that took up a lot of time). After I did that a friend of his also asked me to do one for him and that's what I´ve been doing these past weeks.
But nevertheless I wanted to show you today my setup for September in which I changed up a lot of things. The reason for that was that I was just not using my bujo as much as I would want to and I had to go back to basics and find out what really works for me. My theme therefore was quite similar to my very first monthly Setup in September 2018 which was Mandalas. But this time it was more of a Pattern and Mandala theme with mainly two accent colours (neon pink and orange). It was easy to be very free and creative with it.

September Cover Page

September first spread
Spread one: cover page and quote
So my cover and quote page were actually the last pages I set up because I didn't really know what I wanted to do. I eventually just wrote out September 09 / '19 in this semi bold font with serifes. I used that type of font throughout the whole month. Next to it I decided to go with kind of a mantra for that month which was "have a happy thought every day". Another reason why I wanted to go back to basics and kind of start fresh was that I finished school this year and it was the first time in my life that I didn't go back to school in September. And so I thought I needed a fresh start for this new phase in my life. What I really enjoy about the spread is the black part of the quote page and the simplicity of everything.

Calendar right page

September calendar spread
Spread two: monthly calendar
Next I did my calendar as usual and for me that is the only thing that always worked for me and that I find really important and helpful. I have to say though that it took me an eternity to do all of the patterns but it was therapeutic and I love the outcome of it. And with all that black and white the neon colours just stand out a lot more. What was cool with this pattern was that I could cover up wll the lines of the days that I messed because I drew too many boxes.

Finances right page

September finances spread
Spread three: finance tracker
Something brand new in my setup is a finance tracker. I want to spare some money and by controlling my spendings it is a lot easier. It consists of one list for me to list things that I spent money on or any income. The other page allows me to see on what exactly I am spending my money. For every week I have four categories (food, clothes, activities, other) in which I write down the amount and then I sum up how much I spent that week. I also have one overview for the entire month with the corresponding categories and a reflexion part (on what I should change the following month). Although there is a lot of repetition I find it helpful to really structure my spendings and income. Apart from some smaller decorations I didn't do anything too decorative on this spread.

List of products and recipes

Vegeterian month spread
Spread three: vegetarian tracker

For those of you who have been following along for some time, you might have noticed that my tracker weren't really working for me and so I decided for September to do none of them. However since I decided to go fully vegetarian in September I needed a tracker to challenge and motivate myself to keep up with it. I did this drawing of a mandala and divided it in 30 sections for every day in the month. If I did cope with the challenge on that day I was allowed to colour in the square. And since I am quite a perfectionist, I knew I would push myself to fill it out entirely. And spoilers alert: I made it!
So here are some pictures of the filled out spread:

If you want to know my motivation and how I actually managed to get along with it, just write me any questions in the comments or on Instagram. The other part of the spread was just a list of recipes that I liked and some products. I will continue this list even after the month just so that I have a spread where I can easily find ideas what to buy or cook.

Daily logs in September
Spread four: daily log
And lastly one of the major things I changed: I stopped doing weekly spreads. I love the weekly spreads in terms of being able to do them very creative and extra, BUT they weren't working for me. I think they were the reason why I wasn't really using my bujo that much. And therefore I decided to try out to do daily logs. I just wrote the date and than as much tasks, events and notes as I needed for that day, not limiting myself in terms of space. I really enjoyed it and will do them more in the future. But to not leave the page super blank I took part in the handwriting challenge of the Instagram account Squarelimedesigns.

That's it for this post and I am glad to be back again. I hope you enjoyed this setup and perhaps got inspired by some part of it. I would love to get some feedback from you so make sure to write me a comment here or a message on Instagram. Until next time!
