Book review: Twenties Girl - Sophie Kinsella

Good afternoon my fellow readers!
I hope you are all doing well despite the quarantine most of us are in (little disclaimer: please stay at home and the respect social distancing everyone is talking about. If not for yourself than for others!!). I am staying at home too and trying to motivate myself to read a little more since I do have loads of time. My main occupation however has been to listen to podcasts and draw mandalas (it is very calming and you can easily pass hours doing it).
I thought I could throw in a book recommendation if you want to get you bootie up and stop binge-watching for a bit - even though it is perfectly understandable to do so. I hope I can inspire you to get (back) into the world of books.

Twenties girl Sophie Kinsella
It has been a little while since I read this amazing book called "Twenties Girl" by the incredible author Sophie Kinsella. It is not the first book of hers I have read and recommended and it surely won't be the last. But here's the blurb for you to get a quick roundup of the content: " Lara has always had an overactive imagination. Now she wonders if she is losing her mind.
Normal twenty-something girls just don't get visited by ghosts! But inexplicably, the spirit of Lara's great aunt Sadie - in the form of a bold, demanding Charleston-dancing girl - has appeared to make one last request: Lara must track down a missing necklace Sadie simply can't rest without. Lara's got enough problems of her own. Her start-up company is floundering, her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, and she's just been dumped by the love of her life. But as Lara spends time with Sadie, life becomes more glamorous and their treasure hunt turns into something intriguing and romantic. Could Sadie's ghost be the answer to Lara's problems and can two girls from different times end up learning something special from each other?"

For starters I have to say that this blurb is actually quite okay. An itty bit too spoiler-ish but overall, it drives interest to the readers and sums everything up quite nicely. I have absolutely adored this book. The concept of a ghost haunting someone because he can't leave the Human sphere because of someone or something is nothing new to be very honest. But Kinsella as always created two very strong and opposed main characters. You laugh, you cry and you get intrigued by all the drama in the book. What I also really enjoyed was the way how the author brought the golden decade of the Twenties into our current world. I have always liked that decade for its fashion and glamour, but Sophie Kinsella has showed me that it is a lot more than that and that I would really have liked to live in those times. Now that we are back into the Twenties of this century it might be a great homage to (re-)read this book.

I hope you'll enjoy this book as much as I did. You can now find me on Goodreads, a platform full of book ratings. This book has an average review of 3,83/5 stars.

I hope that you stay safe and healthy. I hope we'll have lots of virtual contact in these times. Why don't you hit me up on any of my social media platforms? I would love to hear what you are reading, hearing, watching or just thinking! Until next time,

Izzy
